We are fortunate to have this all volunteer staff  who donate their time, talents and experiences to help The Community Roundtable meet the goals of our mission statement.

The Community Roundtable's Mission:

To instill a sense of community and pride for the Greater Brandon area through participation, via membership and volunteerism.

Janine Clouds

Janine B. Nickerson –  President

Janine grew up in Tampa, and has resided in the Brandon area since 1976.  She married Steve Nickerson with whom she raised two daughters.  As the owner of The Brandon Valrico – Journal from 1995 to 2008, she became involved in the community through the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce.  She has served on the Roundtable Board as a Trustee and most recently as Vice President.  Since retiring from the newspaper, Janine has taken on the responsibilities of an administrative assistant for the Roundtable – attending to mail, phone calls, and updating files.  She has organized events, created brochures and marketing materials, and represented the Roundtable at Chamber events.  Janine also serves as a member of the Citizen Advisory Committee, a group providing feedback to the Hillsborough County School Board.  In addition, she has been on various committees in the community.

Stephen Nickerson – Treasurer

Steve is a transplant from the Boston area. In 1969 he joined the US Navy and was assigned to MacDill AFB where he met his future wife Janine. After getting an AA degree in Computer Programming from HCC, he earned his BS in Business Management from USF in 1980. He then passed the battery of tests to qualify as a Certified Computing Professional (CCP). He worked as a Computer Analyst for 10 years for Hillsborough County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court, focusing on computer development projects for the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser offices. Steve worked the next 23 years for Time Customer Service (TCS) in Tampa, the main magazine fulfillment house for Time Inc’s 50+ magazines, including Money, People, Time, Fortune, National Geographic, Martha Stewart and others. While at TCS, he managed computer programming teams developing mainframe computer solutions for the clients in NY. In March 2010, Steve retired. He and Janine have two daughters and two granddaughters a major source of joy in their retirement. After two years as the Roundtable Treasurer, he now focuses his attention on the web site activities.

Since 1968, I have lived in this wonderful community of Brandon, and it was a great place to grow-up and raise my family. I own and operate ADCO Agency, Inc., a promotional products company in Brandon, as well as serving as the Marketing Director for Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Assoc. In 2010, I became Honorary Mayor of Brandon, raising $31,000 for the ARTS at Center Place. For 6 years, I’ve served on the board of the Greater Brandon Arts Council. Other organizations that I’ve been involved in throughout the years include: Brandon Jr. Woman’s Club, Brandon Historical Assoc., Brandon High School Alumni, & Bloomingdale High School Band Boosters. I urge all of you to make our community a better place by volunteering your time and talents!

 Lee onlyB. Lee Elam – Past President

Lee is from Greenville, Florida where he attended school before enrolling at Florida State University. He graduated from FSU and also Stetson University College of Law. Between undergraduate and law school, he went to Colombia, South America and served two years in the Peace Corps, learning to speak Spanish fluently in the process. He moved to east Hillsborough County in 1965 and to Brandon in 1970. He is past President of the Brandon Rotary Club, American Cancer Society(founding member), Community Roundtable, where he has served since 1985. He was the first voluntary lawyer of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Board before taking that position. He is a founding member of the Brandon Bar Association. He is a charter member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and a member of the Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus and a former lector.

Jim PettigrewJim Pettigrew – Trustee

Jim has over 30 years of military related experience and is currently serving as an Air Force civilian employee and reserve officer at MacDill AFB.   He has an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and is a graduate of Air War College.   Jim established a not for profit organization called Jillian’s Journey to help families and children stricken with a life threatening illness.   He has been a member of the All Children’s Hospital Guild, and is an assistant scout master with Troop 11 in Valrico.    Jim and his family moved to Valrico in 2001 from Utah.  They support the Campo YMCA in Valrico, the Bloomingdale High School Choir Boosters Club, enjoy fishing, kayaking, and bike riding.

photo coming soonLaWayne Wyatt – Trustee

LaWayne and his wife Georgann moved o Brandon from California in 1985 when he was assigned to MacDill AFB.  They have two daughters the youngest of which graduated from Brandon  HS.  Both daughters now reside in Indianapolis, IN.  LaWayne first became involved with the Roundtable in 1986, when he volunteered to be on the Parade Committee.  In 1991 he assumed the duties of the Parade Marshall and has held that position to date.  He retired from the military after 25 years and then worked the next 21 years for the Florida Department of Education as a Database Administrator.   He retired from that position in 2011.  LaWayne is currently a member of the Florida Kennel Club, Samoyed Fanciers of Central Florida and Saymoyed Rescue of Central Florida.  He and his wife show Saymoyed  dogs in AKC conformation shows and herding trials.
